Installing Brushes
Part of being a photoshop-pro is using brushes. Brushes is like a whole new world of graphic wonder! The process of installing brushes
is quick and easy; here are a few steps to get you on your way.
1.
We're going to start at the point where you've already found a set of brushes you
want. For this example I'll be installing a new set of brushes from one of my favorite
sites, 500ml Brushes. (Link can be found on Photoshop links page.) Find the download
brush button and click it.
2.
A box like this will pop up. Boxes will differ in looks. Hit save.
3.
Find where you want to save it. I always put mine on the desktop (highlighted).
Hit save again.
4.
Lets leave the brushes on the desktop for now. At this point we need to open up
the photoshop brush folder. To do this you'll need to go; C Drive/ Program
Files/ Adobe/ Photoshop/ Presets/ Brushes.
5.
The brushes file you downloaded is probably a Zip file. Unzip it (get winzip at
www.winzip.com) and have that folder open. Now, this is my way of doing this whole
brush thing. Have both folders open and next to each other like so. Drag the brush
(highlighted in circle) to the Adobe brushes folder. Done! You'll need to restart
photoshop (Not the computer, just close PS down and reopen). Your brush is now ready
for use!
To use the brush, have the brush tool selected, right-click on the canvas, hit the
small arrow on the top-right of the brushes box. Seek out the name of your brush
(Mine will be 500mljapan for example). Click this. Hit OK to the pop-up!
